Great field. Synthetic grass. Yanshou’s old home ground. Sybian’s old firing ground. 70-yr-old MHA referee, Prime League player, Ah Lam’s blackout due to excessive sex, 1st match in black. What a wonderful combination of factors to make this an interesting match.
However, one word was needed to sum up Songbo’s 1st match in black: Chiu or 2 words: Really chiu. Factors leading to the downfall of Songbo: 1 strong central defender, Good goal kicks and simple clearances, simple yet deadly cross-field passes, short crisp passing, weather?, black jersey?, lethargic from long journey?, off-days from players and lack of commitment from most players.
Result: 2-1 defeat.
Synopsis:
In actual fact, the scoreline should have been wider if their 20-yr-old lookalike 35-yr-old nippy striker talked less and was more prolific.
1st goal:
Another cross field pass got behind our defence, striker through, Cat saved abit, striker got in front of Lust, Goal!
Equalizer:
Jack d’Ripper saw a lapse in concentration from opponent’s defence, took a quick free-kick, Goal!
2nd goal:
A cross, connected by a striker, bottom left, Goal!
This seemed like a match to forget. Nothing worth mentioning. Back to old problems of suicidal defending, disorganized midfield, isolated striking. However, I forgot to mention what the Prime League defender mentioned to me about our team after the match. ‘Discipline’. ‘Well-organised’. These two words were what he said about us.
I think it is important for us to always remember that we are not the most technically gifted team. But our win-lost record can match most amateur teams in Singapore. Why? Discipline and good organization. Let’s us not forget these traits that differentiate us from the other teams. In fact, we shall continue to maintain these qualities and improve on aspects which we are lacking in.
So let’s stay united, cheerful and gay about the unique Songbo team we have here, leverage on one another’s strength and using one another to cover up on our weaknesses.
